Ramapo High School Kara Schnaidt, 2012, studied at New York’s ISE where she focused on baking, pastry making, and culinary management.
She continued making her own treats out of her house and sold some pink lemonade cupcakes to her nail favorite nail salon: that’s where she realized she could make it into a business.
“We are an anti-freezer bakery, and a shortening-free bakery,” she said. “We use butter, no extracts, real flavors and ingredients. And the presentation - we go above and beyond.”
Schnaidt moved into a commercial kitchen in Hawthorne and started selling at Wyckoff’s former Red Mango shop and the Market Basket.
She took over the space once owned by a sweets shop January 2015 , a place that she has had her eye on since her teens.
“There will never be a day when there aren’t cupcakes and cakes at a party," said Schnaidt of her dedication to her trade.
She rotates her menu to include seasonal options.
"My daughter's friend had them at a bridal shower," said Carol Richard, a customer. "I loved that they didn't taste too heavy."
